Marvel's Black Widow Movie Gets a Cool Fan-Made Poster

The upcoming Black Widow movie gets a new fan-made poster. Marvel Studios is going back in time for Scarlett Johansson's better-late-than-never solo movie as Russian spy-turned-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow. Earlier this week, the hunt for the movie's director finally came to a close with Cate Shortland landing the gig, who will be directing based on a script from Jac Schaeffer. Production is said to begin May of next year and it's rumored for MCU's 2020 release date schedule.

Not much is known regarding the movie's plot right now, but it is expected to follow Natasha during her heydays as a Russian spy, presumably leading up to the mysterious Berlin incident that she and Clint Barton/Hawkeye mentioned in 2012's The Avengers. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans learned a little bit more about her traumatic past as snippets of her time training to be assassin included the revelation that she can't have a baby, after she was sterilized as part of her preparation to be a ruthless killer.

On the heels of the said major development for the Marvel character comes a fan-created poster for the movie from digital artist BossLogic. Including hints of Natasha's tumultuous history with S.H.I.E.L.D. before she was even officially part of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the one-sheet features the presumed supporting cast of the movie including Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, and Colbie Smulders' Maria Hill. It would've been cool if Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson has also been included considering that he's a pivotal agent in most of MCU principal heroes' initial entanglement with the organization until his supposed death in The Avengers. Check out the nifty illustration below:

Aside from S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel, the poster also includes Sebastian Stan in the mock-up cast list. At the time in which the film is supposedly set, Bucky Barnes would have still been under HYDRA's thumb, operating as their ruthless Winter Soldier. While there hasn't been too much interaction between Natasha and Bucky in the MCU, the two actually have a tumultuous relationship in the comic books - even being romantically involved with one another. It's doubtful that Marvel Studios will go that route considering that it would drastically change how people perceive their run-ins from that moment onward, but there are other ways to incorporate the Winter Soldier in the narrative without overly complicating their future.

With a director and writer attached, Marvel Studios is all hands on deck for the Black Widow movie. But with Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 still on the docket for Phase 3, fans shouldn't expect to hear anything specific about the movie until next year when the company finally lays out their plans for Phase 4.
