Fans of HBO’s hit series Westworld have a wealth of special features to look forward to with the season 2 Blu-ray release. While the popular sci-fi/western became infamous back in season 1 for its complex storylines and shocking plot twists, season 2 grew even more complicated when the series scrambled timelines to throw off its viewers. Now that fans know how season 2 ends, many might feel the need to rewatch all of season 2’s episodes with the upcoming Blu-ray release and identify all the plot clues that they didn't pick up on before.

Westworld season 2 explored the chaos set loose on the futuristic western theme park by a group of liberated and awakened robot hosts, led by Dolores (played by Evan Rachel Wood). Meanwhile, Maeve (Thandie Newton) took on the task of hunting down her daughter in the park, Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) tried to get to the bottom of the park’s destruction, and Ed Harris’ notorious Man in Black was on a mission of his own. Westworld, which was created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, also starred Tessa Thompson, James Marsden, Rodrigo Santoro, Louis Herthum, and Clifton Collins Jr.

HBO revealed the Blu-ray details for Westworld season 2 today, which releases on December 4 and also comes in a 4K UHD format. Some of the Blu-ray release’s most exciting special features include a behind-the-scenes look into the creations of Shogun World and The Valley Beyond. Other character-focused special features are: “Bring Yourself Back Online: Reflections on Season 2 – Dolores, Teddy, and Bernard” and “Of Love and Shogun – Maeve, Hector, and Lee." The Blu-ray will also include the mysteriously titled features, “Paved with the Best Intentions: The Evolution of the DELOS Corp.” and “Violent Delights Have Violent Ends."

Westworld season 2 included critically acclaimed episodes like episode 4, “The Riddle of the Sphinx”, and the Zahn McClarnon-led episode 8, “Kiksuya." These profound episodes helped Westworld score 21 Emmy nominations this year, including Outstanding Drama Series. After all, the season 2 finale left some viewers in the dark even more so than when the season began.

While many fans enjoyed season 2, many others were left irritated, feeling that Westworld was becoming unnecessarily confusing. Even the show’s leading star, Evan Rachel Wood, has come out since the season 2 finished and said that it was extremely difficult shooting the latest batch of episodes, because they had no idea what was going on either. Nevertheless, Nolan and Joy insist they know precisely where Westworld is going and how it will end, meaning that all the confusing plotlines serve some higher purpose – even if fans have no idea what they could mean yet. With all the special features, it seems like there’s no better way to gear up for season 3 will bring than with Westworld season 2's Blu-ray release.
