Though AMC might be ending both Into the Badlands and The Son this year, there are a host of new shows premiering and returning to round out its own schedule, as well as its affiliates BBC America and IFC. On AMC proper, the horror series The Terror will return for an all-new cast and story for its second season. The whimsical Lodge 49 is also slated to return for another round. They’ll be joined by Jason Segal’s new series Dispatches from Elsewhere.
BBC America can expect the return of Jodi Whitaker as the latest incarnation of Doctor Who, with most of last season’s cast set to return. Additionally, the 27th season of Top Gear promises “one of television’s most explosive combinations of entertainment firepower and “petrolhead” fumes. Production work for both shows started production back in January.
Meanwhile, IFC will host two new series this year; Year of the Rabbit, directed by Ben Taylor (Catastrophe, Sex Education) and starring BAFTA-winning actor Matt Berry as Detective Inspector Rabbit, a hardened booze-hound cop in Victorian London and Sherman’s Showcase, a new musical variety sketch comedy show created, written and executive produced by Diallo Riddle (Marlon, Rise) and Bashir Salahuddin (GLOW, Snatched). Both series are currently under production for their debut seasons.
