American Gods Season 3 a near certainty as Starz searches for showrunner
Good news for fans of American Gods! Deadline is reporting that a third season of the epic Starz series is an almost certainty, but hinges on finding the right show runner with a “rock solid blueprint in place” who can bring the show in on budget and on time.
“We didn’t make Season 2 of American Gods not to make a Season 3,” a source told Deadline. “It’s a big book.”

The trade reports that the next season will likely center on the chilling Lakeside portion of Neil Gaiman’s award-winning 2001 novel, focusing on Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) as he hides from the New Gods in a freezing Wisconsin town where evil is lurking, the body count is rising, and the war between the Old Gods and the New Gods is heating up.
Gaiman helped steer Season 2 in the right direction, but his role in Season 3 is anyone’s guess as he’s been busy in his new career as a TV producer, including shepherding an Amazon series based on his and Terry Pratchett’s novel Good Omens with Michael Sheen, David Tennant and Jon Hamm.
