Although the Stargirl live-action series was announced only last month, there are already indications that corner of the DC Universe streaming service will be jam-packed with superheroes. Newly surfaced audition videos refer to such DC superheroes as Doctor Mid-Nite and Hourman, both members of the Justice Society of America.
In two of the three videos, the young actors read with someone off-camera standing in for Stripesy, the costumed identity used by Pat Dugan when he was the adult sidekick of the teen hero Star-Spangled Kid. He later developed a powered suit of armor, and adopting the alias S.T.R.I.P.E. (Special Tactics Robotic Integrated Power Enhancer), partnered with his stepdaughter Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl.

In another clip, Stargirl tries to convince her friend to help her find her missing neighbors. Alhough it’s difficult to hear, her friend is named “Yola,” likely Yolanda Montez, the second Wildcat and the goddaughter to the original hero Ted Grant. In the comics, Yolanda served as a short-term replacement for Ted after he was hurt while saving a child.
Produced by Stargirl co-creator Geoff Johns under his Mad Ghost banner, the 13-episode first season is set to debut in 2019 on the DC Universe streaming service.
