Season 5 of Gotham ended with the city in flames. The combined forces of Ra’s Al Ghul and Jeremiah Valeska led to all bridges leading in and out of the city destroyed beyond repair. As a result, Gotham City is now a no man’s land, where most of the criminals have divided up the territory. It’s up to Bruce Wayne, Jim Gordon and only a handful of heroes to try and restore peace and prosperity to the city.
When the fifth season finale came to a close, young Bruce Wayne was closer than ever to becoming the Batman. While the future of the series was in question at the time, Fox later renewed the show for a fifth and final season of 10 episodes, giving Gotham the chance to conclude properly.
With an end date set, David Mazouz’s Bruce Wayne can now finally become the Caped Crusader. But will we actually see him don the suit on the screen, and fight Gotham’s worst criminals? We just might.

During an interview with TVLine at Comic-Con International in San Diego, the young actor revealed that after being on separate storylines for the better part of four years, Bruce Wayne will now finally come to tangle with some of the biggest villains of the series. “He’s going to showdown with some of our villains that we know,” Mazouz said, confirming that this time, his enemies will be “some of the big names” of the series.
“And one of those names might start with a J…” he then teased, making it sound like we’ll finally get to see Bruce Wayne and the Joker — the real Joker — finally come face-to-face.
When asked if the producers had informed him that he would have to wear the Batman costume, Mazouz evaded the answer by smiling and simply saying “You have to wait and see,” but that, beyond that, he wasn’t able to say anything. However, the actor did discreetly confirm that he was hitting the gym to get into Bat-shape, by saying that “things were in motion.”
Will the Dark Knight finally come to save Gotham City? It sure sounds like it, but we’ll have to wait for Gotham‘s final season to find out.
