The 40-year-old actor has signed on to portray Will, a thoughtful and intelligent guy who deals with a lot of unsavory people through his job and finds himself trapped in a bad situation. Taylor’s casting comes a little over a week after Adwin Brown and Victoria Pedretti joined the cast in recurring roles.
Taylor, who’s portrayed Cobblepot since the pilot of Gotham, is also known for starring in two episodes of the AMC apocalyptic hit The Walking Dead, the acclaimed 2016 action game Dishonored 2 and can next be seen in the highly-anticipated third entry into the neo-noir action series John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
Brown, whose credits include Heathers, The Fosters, and Jane the Virgin, will play Calvin, a true west coaster who’s a mix of both meditation and stress. Calvin manages a high-end grocery store and although he feels his life is more together than most, working at an unconventional store for some unconventional bosses tests him.
Pedretti, known for playing Nell Crain on Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House and currently filming Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, will play the female lead opposite Penn Badgley in Season 2. Her character, Love Quinn, is an aspiring chef working as a produce manager in a high-end grocery store (alongside Calvin). Love is uninterested in the world of social media, branding, and self-promotion focused instead on leading an interesting life. She is also tending to a deep grief, and when she meets Joe Goldberg (Badgley), she senses a shared knowledge of profound, life-changing loss.
In Season 1 of You, a brilliant male bookstore manager (Penn Badgley) who crosses paths with an aspiring female writer (Elizabeth Lail), pushes the limits of “love” to the test. A charming yet awkward crush becomes something even more sinister when the writer becomes the manager’s obsession. Using social media and the internet, he uses every tool at his disposal to become close to her, even going so far as to remove any obstacle — including people — that stands in his way of getting to her
Season 2 of the series will be loosely based on the second novel in the series, Hidden Bodies, which will follow Goldberg as he travels to Los Angeles and meets aspiring chef Love Quinn, who is uninterested in social media the way his previous love interest was.
