Similar to its Tom Clancy-penned source material, Amazon’s Jack Ryan series is striving for real-world authenticity from top to bottom.
A new behind-the-scenes featurette showcases how the upcoming television series incorporates consultants from the intelligence community and military to recreate real-world conditions for the series in meticulous detail.

“The authenticity of the show, I think, is paramount,” explained series star John Krasinski. “You meet Jack when he’s just beginning at the CIA working on different files and leads and then he comes across this terror organization and this opens Jack up into this whole new world.”
Amazon ordered a straight to series adaptation of Tom Clancy’s popular character in September 2015 before casting Krasinski as the eponymous intelligence analyst in April 2016. The series has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its August premiere.

Jack Ryan has previously been portrayed on the big screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. The upcoming adaptation is expected to update the Clancy character for a new generation as he travels the world combating a new terrorist threat in addition to serving as an analyst with the CIA back at Langley.
Jack Ryan is a co-production of Paramount Television, Skydance Media, and Platinum Dunes. The series will be executive produced by Michael Bay and showrunners Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Graham Roland (Fringe) and stars John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, and Abbie Cornish. The 10-episode first season is scheduled premiere on Amazon on August 31.
