The sun isn’t setting yet on the once famous Sandy Kominsky and his longtime agent Norman Newlander. Academy Award Winners Michael Douglas (Kominsky) and Alan Arkin (Newlander) star as two friends tackling life’s inevitable curveballs as they navigate their later years in Los Angeles, a city that values youth and beauty. Both comedic and emotional, The Kominsky Method is an 8-episode, half-hour single-camera show created by 8-time Emmy Award Nominee Chuck Lorre.
Turner and Douglas’ flame will once again reunite as she has signed on to star as Ruth Baderman, Sandy’s ex-wife and Mindy (Sarah Baker)’s daughter and is described as Sandy’s second wife, who delights in still being able to push the buttons of her ex-husband. She is currently only attached to star in one episode of the second season
The character was originally set to be named Gabrielle and portrayed by Jacqueline Bisset (Dancing on the Edge), but some behind the scenes creative changes brought the shift towards Turner’s character and casting.
Turner and Douglas first worked together on the adventure Romancing the Stone, which is about to celebrate its 35th anniversary this year, followed by its critically and commercially disappointing sequel The Jewel of the Nile and the acclaimed 1989 dark comedy The War of the Roses, which was also the third collaboration between them and Danny DeVito, who previously made an appearance in the first season of The Kominsky Method.
The Kominsky Method also features Nancy Travis, Sarah Baker and guest stars including Lisa Edelstein, Emily Osment, Graham Rogers, Ann-Margret, Jay Leno, Patti LaBelle, Ashleigh LaThorpe and more. The second season is also set to feature Jane Seymour (Wedding Crashers) and Paul Reiser (Stranger Things).
