A newly released still from the set of Riverdale Season 3 seems to imply that the infamous Southside Serpents aren’t going away anytime soon.
The photo, which was posted to Twitter by Riverdale creator and Archie comics Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, features the Southside Serpent’s new leader Jughead Jones front and center. Additionally, Juggy is flanked by fellow Serpents Sweet Pea and Fangs. Each member of the trio has a look of intent on their faces as they make their way through what appears to be some sort of makeshift camp.

While the Southside Serpents were mostly minor players in Riverdale Season 2, they had a major role to play in regard to both Jughead’s story and the fate of the town of Riverdale as a whole.
When fans of the series last saw the leather-clad gang, they were in the process of ushering in a new era. Jughead’s father F.P. Jones officially retired from the group, naming his son as their new de facto leader. It was around this time that the Serpents also officially welcomed perennial instigator Cheryl Blossom into their ranks.
What exactly the Serpents will be getting up to in Riverdale‘s third season remains to be seen, but judging by Aguirre-Sacasa’s photo, the gang isn’t exactly in the best of shape, nor do they appear to be done making waves.
