Russian Doll Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

In the previous episode of Netflix’s Russian Doll, Alan remembered that he had killed himself. In Russian Doll season 1 episode 7, Nadia unlocked a key principal of the loops.

Fourth Dimension

Alan faced the reality of his first death. However, Nadia explained that she had seen him at the deli that night. She had thought about helping him but messed with some Wall Street guys instead. If Nadia had helped him, Alan wouldn’t have killed himself, and a cab wouldn’t have hit Nadia.

Because of this, Alan argued it had to do with morality. Nadia believed it was like a bug in code, where deaths were crashes. She explained it had to do with time and relativity. She showed him how a seemingly rotten orange was still ripe inside. Linear time still existed. They thought rewriting their first interaction could set things right.

Empty Party

As she tried to meet up with Alan at the deli, Nadia kept seeing her younger self and die immediately after. Every time she and Alan restarted their loops, fewer people would be at Nadia’s party, until it was just Max in her apartment.

Soon, Nadia and Alan worried about their loved ones disappearing. Alan went to see Beatrice and explained to her that he understood. When Mike came over with his son Edson, they were friendly with each other.

Nadia went to see Ruth. She felt she had betrayed her mother, Lenora, by wanting to live with Ruth. While there, Ruth made Nadia tea without her apartment blowing up. Nadia found the book for John’s daughter and went to the place they were supposed to have brunch. She gave Lucy the book but saw her younger self in Lucy’s place. Nadia died on the floor of the restaurant

Nadia remembered when Lenora bought dozens of watermelons. A store clerk yelled at Lenora, and she told Nadia to go inside and tell the manager. Back at Lenora’s apartment, Ruth was trying to get Nadia to eat something that wasn’t watermelon.

Lenora went into the bathroom and started smashing things. Ruth tried to get her to see that she was doing this in front of Nadia. Like the story Ruth told, Lenora smashed all the mirrors in the apartment.
