Stranger Things’ David Harbour Officiated a Wedding As Chief Hopper

David Harbour just officiated a wedding — in-character, as police chief Jim Hopper.

Harbour had been taking a break from Twitter, but returned this past weekend with a post thanking his followers. In January, the actor promised to officiate a wedding set for September if it received enough retweets. Enough retweets were sent out that he agreed to it, and earlier this month Harbour followed through on his promise. He even showed up fully in costume to help with the nuptials.

Hey internet. I know it’s been awhile. I retreated. Needed some space. You probably get it. But I’ve been thinking about ya in the interim. And all your retweets. And so me and some fun folks in Springfield, Illinois made good on our promise we made all those months ago. pic.twitter.com/fZK8zNMQSi

Harbour plays Jim Hopper on Stranger Things, the massively popular Netflix coming-of-age sci-fi horror series. One of the more reasonable adults in the town of Hawkins, Indiana, Hopper has become the foster father for Eleven (aka Elle), the supernaturally empowered teenage girl that has a strange connection to the Upside Down, a frightening parallel reality that breaks through dimensions and into Hawkins.

Harbour is also starring in the upcoming Hellboy reboot, due out early next year.

The third season of Stranger Things is currently filming. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the series stars Harbour, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Galen Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Priah Ferguson, Cary Elwes, Jake Busey and Maya Thurman-Hawke. It’s expected to be released via Netflix sometime in the summer of 2019.
