Supergirl Recruits Smallville Alum as Agent Liberty for Season 4

Erica Durance isn’t the only Smallville alum to visit The CW’s Supergirl. Sam Witwer, who played Davis Bloome/Doomsday in the eighth season of the young Superman series, has been tapped to appear in Season 4 of Supergirl as the DC Comics character Agent Liberty.

Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed the news, confirming that Witwer will join the cast as a series regular. According to the character breakdown, this version of Agent Liberty will prove to be an antagonist. The article describes him as being “the ruthless and terrifying founder and figurehead of Children of Liberty, a hate group that supports a human-first world order.”

Since Supergirl and her DEO allies put the rights of alien refugees first, it’s a safe bet that Kara and Agent Liberty will clash on multiple occasions. In the comic books, Agent Liberty is an ex-CIA operative who became disenchanted with the government. While he has proven to be a dangerous adversary, he has also been known to help Superman and the Justice League on a few occasions. If the source material is anything to go by, than Liberty may turn to the side of good throughout his arc in Season 4.

This casting comes as the latest shakeup for the series, following the departure of series regulars Jeremy Jordan and Chris Wood, who played Winn and Mon-El respectively.
