The Flash isn’t the only Arrowverse character getting new duds this fall. According to Beth Schwartz, Arrow‘s new showrunner, Season 7 will introduce some new costumes for its cast, though she didn’t specify exactly who will be rocking a new suit.
“There are some new costumes,” she revealed at Comic-Con International in San Diego. “I can’t really tease anything else. I’m sorry! But you guys are going to be so excited. I cannot wait for everyone to see this season.”
This is far from the first time Team Arrow has gotten a costume upgrade. For instance, Oliver Queen’s Green Arrow suit has evolved over the years. Starting out, the self-appointed hero of Star City wore a green leather ensemble, complete with the soft fabric hood that once belonged to his mentor Yao Fei. In Season 4, he upgraded to a more armored look, with a more fluid green-and-black design and matching hood. This costume lost the sleeves and replaced them with shoulder pads and archer’s gauntlets, but gained plenty of pockets and holsters. Season 5’s costume ditched the shoulder pads and gauntlets, adding sleeves back in. He maintained this costume through Season 6.

John “Spartan” Diggle has also been through some changes. Initially, Digg had no costume at all, preferring to run into battle wearing his civvies. Around Season 4, though, he got a costume of his very own: a steel gray jacket-and-pants combo with a face-protecting helmet that left the back of his head exposed. The helmet evolved over the following years; eventually, it covered his whole head and added transparent shielding over his eyes. In Season 6, the entire suit underwent a redesign, shifting to a sleeker red-and-black look with a matching helmet.

Additionally, Rene Ramirez’s Wild Dog costume went through a radical transformation. When he debuted in the Season 5 premiere, his costume was makeshift: a hockey jersey, hockey mask and holsters. This look was incredibly faithful to the source material. In Season 6, however, he received a much more tactical suit. This suit retained certain elements of his original costume, including the color scheme and the patterning on the helmet, but was much more in-line with his teammates’ style.

Of Team Arrow’s members, Dinah Drake’s Black Canary and Mister Terrific have not had any major costume changes, but they may now be due for one. What’s more, Oliver is expected to undergo a radical transformation this year, becoming a shadow of his former self. When (or if) he gets out of prison, this character change could be reflected in a new costume. However, we won’t know for sure who’s getting a new suit until the show premieres this fall.
Premiering Monday, October 15 at 8 pm ET on The CW, Arrow Season 7 stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Echo Kellum as Mr. Terrific, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary and Katie Cassidy as Black Siren.
