Following confirmation that DC Universe’s Titans would receive a second season, executive producer Geoff Johns has teased the possibility that the show’s sophomore outing will feature a gay hero.
TV Line asked Johns if LGBT characters would appear on the show. “Of course,” he responded. “There’s one Titan that already is gay, that we’ve talked about bringing on — probably next season.”

Although Johns didn’t specifically name the character he has in mind, the article teases the possibility that he’s referring to Miguel Jose Barragan. Also known as Bunker, the character first appeared in Scott Lobdell and Brett Booth’s 2011 comic Teen Titans #1. The character is able to create constructs much in the same way as a Green Lantern.
Speaking about the character to CBR in 2011, Lobdell said, “He enjoys being alive, he enjoys his sexuality, and he enjoys that he’s been gifted with these super powers. To some degree, I don’t think we see a lot of characters enjoying their super powers the same way that you and I would. I think it’s great to see the drama of characters burdened by that which separates them from society, but there’s also the idea that many people solely enjoy and celebrate every day that which makes them different instead of being fearful or angsty or regretful.”
Based on the DC Comics team of the same name, the series sees police detective Dick Grayson find a supernaturally powered girl named Raven. In order to protect her from a nefarious organization, Batman’s former sidekick reassumes the mantle of Robin and assembles a new team.
