On Fox, Warner Bros.’ DC Comics/Vertigo-based television series Lucifer walked the line between procedural and supernatural drama. Because of its late time slot, the series could push the envelope of your usual 8 p.m. series, but it still had to abide by the general rules of network television. For that reason, on Fox, Lucifer was never able to live up to its full, hellish potential.
However, that will change now that Netflix has rescued the show from cancellation. Lucifer will return for a 10-episode Season 4, where it will be allowed to embrace the more mature boundaries of the streaming service — and it sure looks like leading man Tom Ellis will unleash his character’s more, erm, physical attributes, when the series returns next year.
On his Instagram account, the actor has revealed that he has been going through a rigorous 3-month training regimen and dieting to get into shape for Lucifer‘s upcoming season. With the hashtag #DevilTraining, Ellis makes it clear that this impressive transformation is for his role as the fallen angel. On Fox, Lucifer Morningstar was perhaps not the most physically demanding role — but that may seem set to change with the series’ new home.

But that’s not all. On top of that, the actor has also teased some upcoming nude scenes on the series. Last week, Ellis also posted a picture of a piece of cloth meant to hide actors’ privates during the shooting of nude scenes.
Tom Ellis’ take on the former lord of Hell has always been that of a lustful and unhinged character and, now, the freedoms that come with being under the Netflix umbrella mean that the series will feature more nudity and risqué material than ever before.
Season 3 of Lucifer ended with Detective Chloe Decker finding out that Ellis’ Lucifer was in fact the Devil himself. The upcoming season is expected to follow-up on that shocking cliffhanger with a premiere titled “Everything’s Okay.” On Monday, it was also announced that actress Inbar Lavi was joining the cast of the series as the original biblical sinner, Eve.
