Showtime is prepping a limited series about screen starlet and wartime inventor Hedy Lamarr, and the premium channel has Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot in talks to star and co-executive produce.
According to The Wrap, the limited series from Endeavor Content will be written and executive produced by Sarah Treem, co-creator and executive producer another Showtime series The Affair. Warren Littlefield, the producer of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, is also set to executive produce with Treem, Gadot and her husband Jaron Varsano.

Hedy Lamarr was a star of the screen in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Most people are not aware of her life story or contribution to science.
Lamarr married an aristocrat in Austria involved in the development of weapons for the Germans. The knowledge she absorbed by eavesdropping on his meetings served her in developing jamming signals she and composer George Antheil submitted to the U.S. government. That technology did not end up getting used in the war effort, but it forged the beginning of cellular devices, WiFi and computers. Lamarr’s secret work in this area did not become known until after her death.

Gadot, on the other hand, was recognized by Time for her work this year, making the publication’s list of the 100 most influential people. She is currently filming her next outing as Diana Prince, Wonder Woman 1984, and will star in the upcoming film Red Notice with Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
Neither Showtime nor Gadot’s reps commented on the status of negotiations for the series.
