15 Movies Coming Out This Year (And 15 Coming Out In 2019)

15 Movies Coming Out This Year (And 15 Coming Out In 2019)

5 The Irishman (2019)

Martin Scorsese is one of cinema's greats for a reason. Not only is he responsible for iconic movies like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and Gangs of New York, but he's remained at the top of his game in the years since.

The Irishman will star Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. If that isn't enough to get you hyped, it's also got Joe Pesci, Anna Paquin, and Harvey Keitel.

The Irishman refers to Frank Sheeran (DeNiro) recalling his involvement in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino).

It's already looking to be something special and the good news for couch potatoes is that it'll hit Netflix at some point next year.

4 Aquaman (2018)

No matter your feelings on the compromised Justice League, most can agree that Jason Momoa's Aquaman was one of the better parts.

As you'll no doubt know already, Arthur Curry is getting his very own movie this year, directed by James Wan.

The first trailer is scheduled to hit during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, but rumor has it that the movie is testing through the roof behind the scenes.

The DCEU has had a decidedly mixed reception from audiences, but Aquaman could prove that Wonder Woman wasn't a fluke and that the DC Extended Universe is back on track.

Aquaman is out 21st December.

3 Shazam! (2019)

One way or another, 2019 is going to be the year of characters named Captain Marvel. DC and Warner Bros. are hard at work on Shazam!

Shazam! stars Asher Angel as the young Billy Batson, a boy who is granted the power of the legendary ancients by a wizard.

Upon speaking the wizard's name, Billy is transformed into the adult Shazam/Captain Marvel (Zachary Levi), albeit still with his teenage mind.

Shazam! has the potential to be tons of fun and looks to answer the DCEU's critics who have accused their movies of being too dark.

Shazam! hits theaters April 5th, 2019.

2 Mary Poppins Returns (2018)

The classic 1964 Disney movie Mary Poppins is getting its belated sequel this year. Mary Poppins Returns stars Emily Blunt in the title role, as she comes back to the Banks household to solve family disputes.

The young boy from the first one, Michael, has grown up and has children of his own, leading Mary Poppins, her cousin Topsy (Meryl Streep), and lamplighter Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) to make the home happy once more.

Emily Blunt is perfect casting and we're hoping that the musical numbers are just as memorable and catchy as the ones in the first.

Mary Poppins returns on December 25th.

1 Avengers 4 (2019)

If internet chatter is to be believed, Avengers 4 may be titled Avengers: End Game, but until we get some official word, we'll simply refer to it as Avengers 4.

After the massive cliffhanger at the end of Infinity War, we now have to endure the long wait until the next part.

Avengers 4 looks like it's going to be both a send-off to the original incarnation of the Avengers and the start of an all-new version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

As we're still not sure which MCU actors will be leaving the franchise, anything could and probably will happen.

The Avengers will assemble once again on May 3rd, 2019.
